Treatment Philosophy/Message to prospective patients
People come to counseling for a variety of reasons. Some come in an attempt to find meaning during times of personal crisis, while others come in order to acquire new skills and resources for living a more fulfilled life. A variety of therapeutic techniques are utilized during the counseling sessions. Cognitive-behavioral therapeutic techniques examine the thought and behavior patterns that may contribute to current problems while family systems and interpersonal therapeutic techniques focus on the patterns of relationships, both individually and within the family.
Medications can be helpful for some people; either as a single method of treatment or in combination with counseling. Education abou the various types of medications commonly utilized in mental health treatments is essential in order for clients to make truly informed decisions about this aspect of treatment. Routine monitoring is necessary if medications are part of the treatment plan.
Treatment is a true partnership between the client and the practitioner, brought about by mutual respect and joint colaboration.
