I work with individuals and couples, and adolescents ages 14 and up.
Treatment Philosophy/Message to prospective patients
My approach to therapy can best be described as Emotionally-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. People often come to therapy because they find themselves feeling, thinking or acting in ways they don't like, don't understand, and are in situations they believe they can't control. Sometimes their relationships with family members and others are not what they used to be or what they want them to be. I work with clients to set goals and work toward those goals by learning to uncover often unrecognized, deep emotions, and I utilize tools from the evidence-based, Cognitive and Behavioral Treatment approaches to explore patterns of thinking and behaving. I often teach Communication and Problem-Solving skills so that people can learn to improve their relationships, not just with family members, but with all of the people in their lives.
I am currently studying to become a Chemical Dependency Counselor, and work with individuals nad couples who are in recovery.
I am a practical, warm and supportive therapist.
Hobbies & Interests
I love watching wildlife and being outdoors. I have a great love for dogs, especially Black Labradors, and hope to soon have one as a therapy dog to help me work with my clients.
